Privacy policy
Maisonnée is a household app for the people who live in one home: what you own, what to buy, which bills are due and which documents matter. It is built so that your data stays yours.
What Maisonnée stores
- Inventory: rooms, containers, items and the photos you take of them.
- Shopping lists, staples and list history.
- Bills, payments, expenses and an optional monthly budget.
- Documents (PDFs you scan, import or build from photos) with their expiry dates.
- An activity log of who in the household changed what, with the previous version kept for 30 days so changes can be reverted.
- Each member’s chosen display name and avatar.
- Product names learned from barcodes you scan, so the next scan of the same product is recognised. They are stored in the home’s data like everything else.
Where it lives
Everything is stored on your device and, when you are signed in to iCloud, in your own iCloud private database through Apple’s CloudKit. When you invite people to your home, the data is shared with them through Apple’s CloudKit sharing, inside your iCloud account; they see it through their own iCloud accounts. Apple’s iCloud terms apply to that storage.
Maisonnée has no servers of its own. Apart from Apple’s iCloud (only to your account and the accounts of the people you invite), the one thing that leaves the device is a scanned barcode:
- When you scan (or type) a product barcode that your home has not learned yet, Maisonnée sends the barcode, digits only, over HTTPS to Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org), a public product database, to look up the product’s name. No account, no key and no other data is sent with it (only the app’s name and version as the User-Agent), and nothing is tracked. Barcodes with letters are never sent.
What Maisonnée does not do
- No analytics, no crash reporting services, no advertising, no tracking.
- No third-party SDKs that receive your data.
- No account with us: there is nothing to sign up for.
- No sale or transfer of data to anyone.
Photos, scanned documents and financial amounts are processed on the device only (resizing photos, building PDFs, calculating monthly totals).
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: to photograph items, scan documents and read product barcodes. Photos stay in Maisonnée; the camera picture used to read a barcode is not stored or sent.
- Photo library: only through the system picker, for the photos you choose.
- Notifications: local reminders for bills and document expiry. They are scheduled on the device from your own data; no push server is involved.
This website and the waitlist
maisonnee.app is hosted by Cloudflare. It sets one cookie, lang, and only when you choose a language from the menu at the top: it remembers that choice for a year and holds nothing else. It runs no analytics and loads nothing from other sites; its fonts are served from this domain.
If you join the waitlist, we keep the first name and email address you enter. They are stored by our email service, Resend (Resend, Inc., United States), which sends the waitlist emails for us. We use them for two things only: a confirmation when you join, and an email when Maisonnée is on the App Store. They are not shared with anyone else and are not connected to the app.
- To leave, use the unsubscribe link in any of our emails.
- To have your name and address deleted altogether, email us at the address below.
- To stop abuse, the form counts how often an address is submitted; that count erases itself after 24 hours.
Your control
Delete an item, bill or document and it is gone after the 30-day revert window. Leave a shared home and its data is removed from your device. Delete the app and its local data goes with it; the iCloud copy can be removed from iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.
